About the Program

In the Filmmakers' Workshop, Jr. Filmmakers work with experienced film coaches to bring their ideas to life. They learn about scripting, production planning, filming, lighting, sound design, editing techniques and everything in between - all within the context of creating short films that are 100% student-led.

Benefits

Here is some of what you can expect from your time in the Filmmakers' Workshop:

  • Nurture Creativity
Let your imagination run wild to interpret thought-starting prompts and themes or create something completely unique.

  • Student-Led Curriculum
You decide what we make and we're here to make that happen. We call them Film Coaches for a reason.

  • Hands-On Filmmaking
You write the scripts, hold the camera, build the sets, direct the actors, star on set, edit the footage and everything in between.

  • Professional Cameos
Guest speakers from the local film industry make regular appearances in our classes.

  • Film On Location
We partner with the community to create immersive experiences by filming on location as much as possible.

  • Collaboration and Teamwork
Filmmaking is a team-sport and everyone has a role to play both in-front of and behind the camera.

  • Confidence and Empowerment
On our sets, everyone has a voice and everyone is heard. Film is one of the most powerful storytelling mechanisms around.
